Symbolic of the individuality of each woman’s life,
this lip print represents each woman’s unique story.
By changing lip colors, a woman can change her appearance.
By making new choices, she can change her life.
Bev Erickson is a journalist with a background in marketing, public relations, advertising and event planning. Her skill in technical and creative writing has afforded her a wide range of opportunities throughout her career, including corporate management and executive director positions, freelance writing projects and the authoring of children’s stories.
Bev’s resume is diverse but the majority of her career was within the financial industry where she was vice president of marketing and public relations of a regional bank conglomerate. In 1997 she and her husband founded E-IT Consulting, Inc. For nine years, during the era of massive bank mergers, they managed branch-bank technology roll-outs across the US.
Born and raised in a resort community in northern MN, Bev learned her love of art and the outdoors from her father, an artist, storyteller, piano player, fisherman, hunter and railroad roundhouse foreman. Her fine penmanship, humor and enjoyment of music, she also attributes to him. From her strong mother, Bev learned perseverance, the importance of education, reading and exercise, love of family and friends, the joy of cooking (and eating healthy), compassion for those less fortunate and how to be strong and overcome adversity.
In high school, she was sent to detention for asking a question her teacher thought was
inappropriate. It was in detention where Bev learned to appreciate the power of words. Her punishment was to handwrite pages of the dictionary. She says her “time-out” sessions and all those fun, strange and powerful words instilled in her a desire to become a writer, but when she received a nursing scholarship, her pursuit of a professional communications career was derailed.
Bev graduated from Glenwood Hills School of
Nursing and worked for five years in clinical and hospital settings. She married her high school sweetheart who graduated one year later from the University of MN as a mechanical engineer. The
couple has three sons, three daughters-in-law and eight grandchildren.
While still raising her young family, Bev returned to college, earned a journalism degree from the University of MN and finally was able to embark upon a career in communications. While employed at the bank, she enrolled in the communications graduate program at St. Thomas University, completing advanced business writing and technology courses.
Bev and her husband live in the cabin they designed and built. Bev’s writing-loft overlooks a pristine northern MN lake. In her community, she serves on non-profit arts boards and is a member of Toastmasters International. She and her husband enjoy international travel but always regret having to board their British Labrador, Baylee, at a doggie school while they are away.
Five years ago, Bev started a book club of women who reside on her lake in the summer. Lively book discussions take place each summer at their bi-weekly meetings. Bev’s other interests include entertaining family and friends, attending live theatre performances, gardening, painting, photography, and knitting. She exercises daily with her husband and dog. They walk long distances on trails through the Chippewa National Forest.
Regarding Lipstick Logic: Having overcome her own adversity of the death of her loving father at age 12 and having been raped by a family friend a year later, Bev understands the importance of helping women (young and old) find the resources they need to overcome serious health issues and crisis related life-events. In 2006, Bev and her sister, Dr. Betty Kuffel, formed Lipstick Logic, LLC to provide women a forum, through their health conferences and website, to share personal life-lessons to help others overcome situations that often seem hopeless.
